... The End

Time passed too quickly again and a semestre is ending. This word " end" scares me terribly, it reminds me inevitability of getting old and the time which separated for me will finish. After these joyful years of studentship, suddenly the concreate wall of awful truth will hit me, fear of unknown will defeat me. So today i am greatful for everything i have, because when these happy years will pass and after years of unknown will pass, i will definately know the time for me is finished and memories of today will ease my fear. Also Sonja thank you because only concern of me know is a little presentation and a 1-2 pages of work but you left a great amount of memories through my studentship. It is really hard to say good bye's.

White Doll, Black Doll. Which one is the nice doll?

While i was surfing through the web, a video which i shared from facebook mounths ago came across me. We havent read Bluest Eye than, this video is totally about inferior complex of black kids. In video little kids are asked to choose between a black doll and a white doll, every little black kid choose the white one and they say that ugly and dangereous one is black. They also say that good and beautiful one is the white. There is the link, it is a bit dramatic.

Bluest eye

Discrimination and racism through black people is out my perception, black population in Turkey is extreamly low that they could could be individualy counted. When I read texts like this it feels so awkward, but now I understand that how hard was life for a black people on those years. All the pain that they suffered archieved them a great success, Barack Obama. US has a black president today, race that used for slavery, burned alive, raped, humiliated and even didn't had permission to enter a house from the front entrance is now sitting on the "White House". Time changes everything doesn't it the proof?

102 research

Here we start all over again, new semester and new responsibilities. This semesters main topic is research papers, Sonja asked us to write a 1500 word research paper, I selected stereotyping over Italien American's and Mexican American's. I will compare and contrast them in my research and try to examine the facts which caused this problem.

14.Final Post

This is the point which our story with eng 101 ends. This is my last obligated post but i will sure continiue publishing post about my daily life. Before Sonja's insist on creating a blog, (this part is embarrassing) i just heard that there was something called blogspot and some mysterious people blogging. Now i understand how pioneer thing is it, there are millions of blogs and it is possible to reach everybodys ideas, researches and guides which can be very helpfull. It is also a kind of a journal that will stay as a memory in history part from individual. This was the greatest value i have gained this semester. Thanks to Sonja

13. Exam

We had our Eng 101 exam yesterday, questions wasn't suprising at all they could be guessed easily as we all talk about these topics. My writing skill isn't perfect, i admit it but it is improving. Time was a problem, 75 minutes was short for 600 words essay. However i dont agree with some points about this gender and media but as a professional student i write what i should write and what is expected from me. I am really hoping to get a great grade because i try very hard to combine the information whic i know about the topics.

12. Romeo and Juliet

I am really bored of gender issues which we look into in this semester. If we look at history there is no woman dig into the mountains to reach her lover or there is no woman defy to god's will for a man. If you remember these stories are not far from your memories. Today some movements ask for equality in life between men and women. It is always equal between men and women even before the time we know. Ancients states were ruled by king and queen equally and even some states were just ruled by women. But if we see today women want the perfect men; rich, sexy, strong, loyal and so on. They want loyal but they also want to feel that men are so pricious that they could be left alone. This centuary ruins everything it leans on. It ruined men, women and their relationships and people who are taking the lead in this movement wants profit as every single organism in capitalist order.

11. Tough Guise

Media and popular culture is overrated by the influence on male behaviour. It is sure that male body and tools that men use is changed by influence over media but we should not forget that violence is caused because of hormones and genes. In Somalia there is no media or advertisement but people are killing each other on streets cutting arms off and raping even men. Before modern era wars were far more brutal than todays professional long ranged wars. 1 centuary ago men could offically made duels between them just because of a women.
These documentaries captured today is exaggerating masculanity, media, commercials, women and daily life. If you watch it skipping, you will always hear, masculanity, media, Tv, advertisement, violence and men. It is kind of ridiculous.

10. The Full Monty

Last week we have watched a presentation about The Full Monty. Movie is made by post modern masculanity concern. It is about men who are very vulnurable because they have issues about their bodies and economic status. It is why this semester we examined this movie in our course i think. Presentation was good, gave us a lot of details about movie but there are some flaws too. For an example some group member talked longer than other but overally it was good. They have examined movie from language to location and it was smart, brief and beneficial especially before watching the movie.

9. 2010

Finally 2009 is over and i have great expectaions from it. Last 2 year was not great for me but now i feel happy and i have hope for my entire life. We had celebrated new year with our friends and had a great fun. For a very long time i felt like i am jammed but 2010 bring me i kind of freedom that i could not understand. New year will bring lots of changes but they all going to be magnificent i hope.

8.Oral Presentation

Last week we had finished our oral presentation, it was about The Truman Show. Truman Show is a great movie which can't be examined just like a movie, there are lots of symbols and ideas given to audience. We have wanted to give a brief look at Truman Show and give symbols to our classmates. We prepared a great slide show to get attention and tried to reveal clues in the movie. Unfortunately one of our group member had a little shock while representing and it was kind of a emberassing moment for our group. Regarless, we managed out.
